Fathers@AMKSS inaugural outing 5th March 2016 is the day fathers@AMKSS organized their inaugural outing – a guided walk and mangrove salvaging at Sunget Buloh Wetland Reserves. The event was led by Mendis Tan, Senior Manager of the Reserves for our 20 participants. It was a sunny day where we met Mendis at the Wetland Centre. Our team was divided into 2 team led by 2 nature volunteers. The teams ‘toured’ a section of the Reserves where the nature volunteers educated us about the various types o

The event was led by Mendis Tan, Senior Manager of the Reserves for our 20 participants. It was a sunny day where we met Mendis at the Wetland Centre. Our team was divided into 2 team led by 2 nature volunteers. The teams 'toured' a section of the Reserves where the nature volunteers educated us about the various types of mangroves as well as the inhabitants of the Reserves. In fact, we encountered water monitor lizards, tortoises, various types of birds, giant spiders and a poisonous snake. During the 'tour', fathers and children were able to share their excitements on these new discoveries. After about an hour, we arrived at the mangrove swamp where we changed into our rubber boots.
